Two research fellows invited for 2016
The project Ptolemaeus Arabus et Latinus invited two research fellows for the year 2016:
- Dr. José Bellver (Barcelona) will be working on the critical edition of Jābir ibn Aflaḥ's Iṣlāh al-Majisṭi (January-March 2016)
- Dr. Mohammad Mozaffari (Maragha) will be working on Islamic mathematical astronomy (October 2016)

Launch of PAL Website
The website of the project Ptolemaeus Arabus et Latinus has been launched on August 15, 2014. For the time being it contains basic information on the project and the people working on it. In the future it will be developed into a major research tool for scholars interested in the Ptolemaic tradition and will serve as a communication interface for these scholars.
Two Latin paleographers hired
The project Ptolemaeus Arabus et Latinus appointed two 50% Latin paleographers, who will transcribe Latin Ptolemaic texts. The two new members of the team are Dr. Monika Isépy (LMU Munich) for the period July-December 2014 and Dr. Irina Galynina (Freiburg) for the period October 2014-September 2016.
Four research fellows invited for 2014
The project Ptolemaeus Arabus et Latinus invited four research fellows for the summer and autumn of 2014:
- Dr. Flora Vafea (Cairo) will do preparatory work on a Greek-Arabic-Latin glossary of astronomical and astrological terms in the period August-October 2014.

Project director celebrates 45th birthday!
The director of the project Ptolemaeus Arabus et Latinus, Prof. Dr. Dag Nikolaus Hasse (University of Würzburg), celebrated his 45th birthday on 3 March 2014. We wish him the very best for the coming years and hope that he will lead the project in good health until its predicted end in 2037.
Official opening of the project
On 14 February 2014 the project Ptolemaeus Arabus et Latinus was officially presented at the Deutsches Museum.
